How to Ship Your Firearm

When sending in your firearm, it’s important to follow the correct shipping and documentation process to ensure safety, compliance, and a fast turnaround.

1. Complete the order form: Before shipping, contact us at info@hillcountrycerakote.com to receive an order form. Print it, fill it out completely, and include it inside your package. Shipments that arrive without a completed form may experience delays in processing.

2. Unload and prepare your firearm: Make sure your firearm is completely unloaded before packaging. Remove all ammunition and verify the chamber is empty. For fastest turnaround and lowest cost, we recommend sending your firearm already broken down into its components (for example, slide, frame, upper/lower receivers, etc.). This allows us to begin coating immediately without additional disassembly or labor fees.

3. Packaging: Ensure each part is securely wrapped and protected to prevent movement or damage during shipping. We advise using bubble wrap or foam inserts and a sturdy box. Avoid labeling the box in any way that identifies it as containing a firearm.

4. Choose a carrier: You may use UPS or FedEx for shipping. Handguns must be sent either overnight or by 2-day guaranteed delivery. Please note that USPS cannot be used to ship handguns unless you are a licensed dealer. You may choose to insure the package for any amount and add a signature requirement for delivery.

5. Include identification: Be sure to include a copy of your state-issued ID. If you have an FFL, CHL, or LTC license, please include a copy of that as well. This helps verify ownership and ensures smooth return shipping.

6. No ammunition: Do not ship any ammunition under any circumstances. Shipments containing ammunition will be refused and returned.

7. After we receive your shipment: When your firearm arrives, our team will inspect the contents, verify all listed parts, and contact you to confirm receipt. We are not responsible for items broken or lost during transit, so please make sure everything is properly packaged and insured.

8. Turnaround time: Once received, most single-color Cerakote jobs are completed within two business days. Firearms received on Thursday typically ship back Monday, and those received on Friday ship back Tuesday.

9. Compliance notice: Hill Country Cerakote is a licensed FFL holder, allowing you to ship firearms directly to us. All work is performed in accordance with federal and state firearm laws. Please make sure that your shipment complies with all carrier and legal regulations before sending.
